Your safari is more than just a journey. It is an experience that should be perfectly planned.
Experience Kenya on a diverse 10-day private trip that connects some of the country's most impressive national parks. From the vast plains of the Masai Mara, your journey takes you through Lake Naivasha and Amboseli National Park to the fascinating landscapes of Tsavo West and Tsavo East.
You will travel continuously in a private vehicle and will be accompanied by an experienced English-speaking driver-guide. In addition to extensive game drives, you can look forward to a guided walking safari, a visit to a Masai village, a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, and a walking safari on Crescent Island. Special highlights include the large herds of animals in the Masai Mara, the elephants against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro, and the red elephants of the Tsavo region.
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by a staff member of African Sunrise Expedition and taken to your hotel in the center of Nairobi. The rest of the day is free for you to settle in and recover from your journey.

Before your trip, we recommend scheduling an appointment with a travel medicine specialist at least 8 weeks in advance. There, you will receive individual advice on necessary or recommended vaccinations and important health measures for your trip.
Since Kenya is a malaria-risk area, malaria prophylaxis is often recommended. The travel medicine specialist can also advise you on suitable vaccinations and check whether your existing vaccination protection is sufficient or if booster shots are advisable.
In general, clothing on safari is practical and in earth tones to avoid startling wildlife. In cities and villages, it is advisable to wear modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees.
Game drives usually start very early around 7:00 a.m. as the animals are most active at that time. You will ride in a vehicle with a pop-up roof that provides excellent all-around visibility. A pair of binoculars is provided per vehicle at no extra cost, but you can rent an additional one for a fee.
Observe the animals quietly and always maintain a safe distance. In most cases, you will be in the safari vehicle during animal sightings, and you should only exit when permitted by your guide. Animals should never be touched or fed. Additionally, it is important not to leave any litter in nature!
In Kenya, tipping is a fixed part of the income for drivers and guides. As a guideline, you should plan around 30 US dollars per day per vehicle. It is helpful to have cash in small denominations for such purposes.
You will usually have breakfast and dinner at your lodge (buffet or set menu). For lunch, your driver will provide a lunchbox so you can spend the day in the bush, or prepare a warm bush dinner in nature for you. During game drives, you will have access to sufficient complimentary drinking water in the vehicle at all times. If you have food intolerances, you should inform us at least four weeks before the trip.
